Sarıkeçili Yorouks are a community who struggle to survive in a place far away from the established world. Me, living in the midst of this established world, was amazed with their stories and decided to find a way to migrate with them. My research led me to meet the head of the Migration-based Sarıkeçili Turkmens Culture and Solidarity Association. My path coincided with Yagal and his family in Mersin, Silifke who were getting prepared to migrate. There were only 6 families with them. However, the number of Sarıkeçili, getting on the road on different days, would reach 200 families in total and many of them were related. I saw camels accompanying migration were left back in the old days. All the supplies were loaded on their trucks and we started the journey. We built the tents together for 15 days.

We carried water together for the flock. I witnessed all the difficulties they had. The struggle they went through with the root plant areas that changed their routes, the danger of wolves, and taking the flock which consisted of more than a thousand sheep to the other side of the road. I saw how they adapted to the harsh conditions of nature and how a vacant land can soon turn into home. When small kids were cooking in the tents or preparing the fire, I actually saw how big and grown up they are. On my final night, while the starry sky of Taurus was blinking from above, I was thinking how long this journey would last which had already been there for 700 years.
