Complaınt-you / Wıthout complaınt ;

This is a work of conceptual documentary, consisting of self-portrait photos. The Sack, which is the main object referring to the concept of photos in the series, is a reference to the sociocultural and political images, apart from its symbolic expression. Moreover, it also stands for the mask, which symbolizes the basic feelings of man, popularized in myths.

During the realization of the Project, the photographer’s state of drawing correspondence while he was determining his notion and working method was the determining factor, as he drew a parallelism from the basic feeling notion at the intrinsic urges of the encounter moment, from individual to public and from public to the subject. In the process, the photographer aimed to make a satirical mirroring in the perception of self, while directing the question of Complaint-you/Without complaint.

In the photos, it is observed that while people from all strata described as ordinary, whether grown-ups or children, are exposed to the questions of Complaint-you/Without complaint, their depersonalization in public or private areas make emphasis on the aura of the day.

While the transformation of complaint from a notion into action can be explained by a premise term dependent on the activities of the subjects, this state of action being in limbo has been emphasized in the photos. In addition, this state has created an artificial tension between the subject-environment and environment-time relationships.

While the self-portrait approach aims to describe the self-presence of the people, the main subjects of the photos, it also gives hints of the photographer’s emotional and symbolic world. The instant effects of the photographer working in public places also bear a short breathed sense of threat.

Starting from this point of view, the project questions that a majority of the society is dominated by the state of Complaint that in the slackness of inertia lies numbness of the deep emptiness and from there until its evolution to the action of fearing. Individuals who live in this emotional world are forced to prove the state of being “alive”, not dying. Is it necessary to put a Sack on our heads every time we want to prove this? Or was the Sack never taken off? Another question is, Do We Have Sacks On Our Heads?.
